After an explosive arrival and a series of grassroots hits, River House Artists talent Hudson Westbrook is now taking his place among a new generation of country singer-songwriters. Self-taught and proudly rough-around-the-edges, the rising star made his splash debut with “Take It Slow” in 2024 (while still enrolled at Texas Tech) and is now pushing ahead, revitalizing the organic country-rock of the Red Dirt revolution – but refusing to be held down by his roots. Hailing from the small town of Stephenville, Texas, and raised on everything from George Strait to gangsta rap, the multi-sport athlete and high school football state champion began playing guitar in 2020 and wrote his first song after enrolling in college in 2023. Blue-collar in both life experience and approach, “Take It Slow” was one of the first songs Westbrook ever wrote, and after recording the laid-back tribute to romantic relaxation for $400, its edgy vocal charm and warm country-rock buzz made it a bonafide hit, racking up more than 10 million streams so far. Claiming a place in the modern music landscape, Westbrook followed with the windows-down anthem “Two Way Drive” and the propulsive new single, “5 to 9” – a showcase of the young star’s song-crafting growth, on top of his innate skill. Capturing a working man’s daydream with a loping, modern-traditional sound, “5 to 9” was joined by the narrative stunner “Johnny Walker” – a grooving cover of fellow Texas lane-maker Jacob Stelly – and both serve to reveal Westbrook’s creative heading. Intent on taking the Texas country spirit far beyond the state line, non-stop travel to meet concert demand includes headlining dates and a tour supporting honky-tonk hitmakers Midland in late 2024, with more new music and shows on the way.
